Rio Carnival is the biggest party on earth and a bucket list experience.
We have years of experience organising trips to Rio carnival and are able to arrange a variety of excursions to show you the best that the city has to offer. This holiday gives you the chance to experience Rio Carnival in excellent beach front accommodation in Ipanema tours to Sugar Loaf, Corcovado and entry to the Sambadrome in superb seats.
We also offer an optional once in a lifetime experience to dress up and be part of the Sambadrome parade.
Fly to Rio de Janeiro where upon arrival you will be met at the airport and taken to your hotel. The remainder of the day will be free for you to relax.
One of the newest boutique and design hotels in Rio de Janeiro, the Janeiro Hotel is located on Leblon beach – one of the most prestigious districts in Rio de Janeiro and close to some major shopping malls, restaurants, cinemas and theatres. The hotel is owned and has been designed by Oskar Metsavaht, from the luxury fashion brand Osklen and his style and touches are everywhere throughout the property. In addition to an innovative design, the Janeiro Hotel offers a unique environment, with style and the perfect combination of facilities and services in order to please even the most discerning and sophisticated guests. This charming boutique hotel also provides beach services, and a restaurant and bar. The Health Floor offers services such as a steam sauna overlooking the boardwalk, a massage room with the best massage therapists in Rio and a fitness centre with the latest equipment and a personal trainer. The hotel focuses on sustainability and boasts reusable glass bottles and paper straws for beach club beverage service, all natural toiletries form the Brazilian beauty label Granado, and locally sourced decor and amenities like organic cotton laundry bags made by community group of weavers and blown glass lamps handcrafted in the south of Brazil from recycled glass bottles.
After breakfast you will be met by your English speaking guide and depart for Corcovado mountain to see the most famous of all images of Rio, the statue of Christ the Redeemer. The views from the top are breathtaking and make you realise why Rio is considered by many as the most beautiful city in the world. The afternoon will be free for you to relax, find a bloco or hit the beach.
In the evening why not head to Rio Scenarium for a night of dancing and superb live samba?
You may wish to spend the day relaxing as the evening sees the big night at the Sambadrome. You will travel on a shared coach to the Sambadrome where you will be located in the frisa seats of sector 9. This sector is towards the end of the Sambadrome runway and offers excellent views. If however you would like seats in a different sector or a box we can arrange this too. Click here to see our Carnival guide for more information. Once inside you will be free to stay as long as you wish. The parades begin at 9pm and finish around 5am and thousands of people stay to the end.
You will almost certainly want a lazy morning, a long lie in, lounging by the pool or down at the beach.
In the afternoon perhaps explore the beaches or the nearby city centre, the cobbled streets of Santa Teresa, the quiet retreat of the Botanical Gardens or continue the party in the nearby district of Lapa.
Tonight we recommend an optional return to the Sambadrome for a once in a lifetime experience and the chance to take part in the Sambadrome parade itself. We cannot recommend this experience enough as it will be something you talk about for years to come. We will arrange your costume and bring you to the Sambadrome where you will meet your samba school and be taught what to do. No specific samba skills are required to take part in the parade, just a big smile and a lot of energy to keep dancing for up to an hour down the Sambadrome runway. At the end of the parade you get to keep your costume, having just experienced one of the best times of your life!

This afternoon you will once again be met by your English speaking guide and head to Rio’s other iconic location, Sugar Loaf mountain. The views are fabulous, looking out over the bay and the southern beaches.
Today the carnival trip ends so following a private transfer back to the airport, you will wave goodbye to Rio and board a flight home.
