Day 2 – Saturday 22nd February 2020

After breakfast you will be met by your English speaking guide and depart for Corcovado mountain to see the most famous of all images of Rio, the statue of Christ the Redeemer. The views from the top are breathtaking and make you realise why Rio is considered by many as the most beautiful city in the world. The afternoon will be free for you to relax, find a bloco or hit the beach.

In the evening why not head to Rio Scenarium for a night of dancing and superb live samba?

Day 3 – Sunday 23rd February 2020

You may wish to spend the day relaxing as the evening sees the big night at the Sambadrome. You will travel on a shared coach to the Sambadrome where you will be located in the frisa seats of sector 9. This sector is towards the end of the Sambadrome runway and offers excellent views. If however you would like seats in a different sector or a box we can arrange this too. Click here to see our Carnival guide for more information. Once inside you will be free to stay as long as you wish. The parades begin at 9pm and finish around 5am and thousands of people stay to the end.

Day 4 – Monday 24th February 2020

You will almost certainly want a lazy morning, a long lie in, lounging by the pool or down at the beach.

In the afternoon perhaps explore the beaches or the nearby city centre, the cobbled streets of Santa Teresa, the quiet retreat of the Botanical Gardens or continue the party in the nearby district of Lapa.

Tonight we recommend an optional return to the Sambadrome for a once in a lifetime experience and the chance to take part in the Sambadrome parade itself. We cannot recommend this experience enough as it will be something you talk about for years to come. We will arrange your costume and bring you to the Sambadrome where you will meet your samba school and be taught what to do. No specific samba skills are required to take part in the parade, just a big smile and a lot of energy to keep dancing for up to an hour down the Sambadrome runway. At the end of the parade you get to keep your costume, having just experienced one of the best times of your life!

Read our blog post about taking part in the Sambadrome parade here.

Day 5 – Tuesday 25th February 2020

This afternoon you will once again be met by your English speaking guide and head to Rio’s other iconic location, Sugar Loaf mountain. The views are fabulous, looking out over the bay and the southern beaches.
