Praia do Rosa lies about 90 minutes to the south of Florianopolis in the state of Santa Catarina and is famous for two reasons; its excellent surf and the presence of many Southern Right Whales.
Despite this, Praia do Rosa remains relatively unvisited by international tourists despite the Baia Bela being described as one of the most beautiful bays in the world.
Much of its charm is because it is still undeveloped and attracts a mix of backpackers, surfers and wildlife enthusiats but still has a number of wonderful pousadas to tempt those in search of the best accommodation. The bay is surrounded by hills, lakes and islands, where the native bush and crystal clear sea make up a privileged setting on the Brazilian coast.
Visitors head to Praia do Rosa all year round and it’s hugely popular during the summer months but equally so between July and November. During these months a large number of Southern Right Whales make their annual journey from the south and stay in the region to mate, give birth and nurse their young.
Whether you are looking for a relaxing beach break, a surfing holiday or if you are a wildlife enthusiast then Praia do Rosa makes for an amazing holiday destination in Brazil.
