Come and experience a holiday to Rio Carnival, the biggest party on earth!
We have years of experience organising trips to Rio carnival and this is the only group trip we operate all year. Travelling in a group is a great way to experience the fun and spirit of carnival with like-minded people.
This 5 night small group tour to Rio Carnival shows you the best the city has to offer during carnival with a lovely beachfront hotel in Copacabana and including private airport transfers, guided tours to Corcovado, Sugar Loaf plus entry to the Sambadrome. We can also offer a return visit to the Sambadrome and a once in a lifetime chance to dress up and take part in the Sambadrome parade, a bucket list experience.
Airport transfer – Arrive into Rio de Janeiro where you will be met at the airport and transferred to your carnival hotel. The remainder of the day will be free for you to relax or explore the local area.
This evening there will be a group meeting to introduce you to your guide and the rest of the group.
Located in front of Copacabana beach and just 40 minutes from the international airport, the Arena Copacabana Hotel has 135 rooms separated into Standard, Superior, Luxury, and Suite categories. All the rooms are equipped with air-conditioning, an LCD TV with cable, a telephone, a mini-bar, a hair dryer, a personal safe, wireless internet and sound-reducing windows. The Deluxe rooms and suites have an ocean front view while the Superior rooms are facing the street and the Standard rooms have an internal view of the building. The hotel offers a small leisure area with a rooftop pool that boasts a spectacular view of the famous Copacabana beach, a gym and a sauna. On the ground floor guests will find at their disposal the cyber cafe, lobby bar and Trocadero Restaurant open for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Accommodation will be in deluxe ocean view rooms on a twin / double bed basis.
If you are a single traveller you can either opt to share a room or pay an additional single supplement for a room to yourself.
Tour to Corcovado – After breakfast you will be met by your guide and depart to Corcovado mountain with the statue of the Christ the Redeemer, the most famous of all images of Rio de Janeiro. From the top the views are sensational and make you realise why we consider Rio to be the most beautiful city in the world. Entrance fees are included.
Free time to explore the Blocos – This afternoon is free for you to relax or perhaps explore one of the local blocos. A bloco is a street party of which there are around 600 during carnival and are a different side to Rio Carnival away from the Sambadrome competition. Some of the blocos are small affair with around a few hundred people taking part whereas there are numerous big blocos, some of which attract over a million people. Your guide can advise you of the best ones.
Tour to Sugar Loaf – This morning your guide will take you to Rio’s other iconic location, Sugar Loaf mountain for a half day tour. The views are fabulous, looking out over the bay and the southern beaches and capuchin monkeys are often seen in the trees.
Visit to the Sambadrome – Today you may want to relax and have a few extra hours sleep prior to a big night at the Sambadrome.
We will travel by bus to the Sambadrome. In the Sambadrome you will be located in sector 9 which is in the middle of the Sambadrome runway and offers excellent views.
Once inside you will be free to stay as long as you wish. The parades begin at 9pm and finish around 5am and thousands of people stay to the end. Your guide will stay until the end and should you wish to leave early you can either take the metro or a taxi back to the hotel.

Free day – Today is a free day with no activities planned and you will almost certainly want a lazy morning, a long lie in or down at the beach.
Optional – Take part in the Sambadrome Costumed Parade – Tonight we recommend an optional return to the Sambadrome for a once in a lifetime experience and the chance to take part in the Sambadrome parade itself. We cannot recommend this experience enough as it will be something you talk about for years to come. We will arrange your costume and bring you to the Sambadrome where you will meet your samba school and be taught what to do. No specific samba skills are required to take part in the parade, just a big smile and a lot of energy to keep dancing for up to an hour down the Sambadrome runway. At the end of the parade you get to keep your costume, having just experienced one of the best times of your life! (see prices below)

Visit to Santa Teresa and downtown Rio – Today your guide will take you on a tour of downtown historic Rio de Janeiro, the artistic area and cobbled streets of Santa Teresa.
Visit to a Samba Club – Tonight, as farewell, we will visit Rio Scenarium, a fabulous Samba club in Lapa, the party district in Rio. Your guide will take you to the club and entrance fees are included. Once inside you’ll have the chance to listen to Samba performers or dance the night away before you are transferred back to the hotel.
Today the group tour to Rio carnival ends so following a private transfer back to the airport, you will wave goodbye to Rio and board a flight to your next destination.
We can arrange travel and tours to other parts of Brazil should you wish to explore further.
The holiday can be secured with a non-refundable deposit of £500 per person and the balance payable 90 days prior to travel.
