This luxury holiday focuses on the beautiful stretch of coastline between Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo, the Costa Verde, and is ideal for those who are not looking to travel too far in such a vast country. Begin in the wonderful city of Rio de Janeiro with its iconic sights before heading along the coast to the ‘Big Island’ of Ilha Grande where you can enjoy a boat ride around the island and then continue to a stunning pousada in Picinguaba, small fishing village. The trip ends at a beautiful countryside fazenda to see a different side of Brazil, all in luxury accommodation.

Day 1 – Rio de Janeiro

Fly to Rio de Janeiro where upon arrival you will be met at the airport and taken to your hotel. Flights to Rio from Europe generally arrive either in the early morning or late in the evening. The remainder of the day will be free for you to relax.

The Porto Bay Hotel has a great location and offers three room types; superior, deluxe and suites, all of which are immaculately presented and all have views of the ocean. Day 2 Rio de Janeiro

After breakfast you will be met by your private English speaking guide and depart for Corcovado to see the most famous of all images of Rio, the statue of Christ the Redeemer. The views from the top are breathtaking and make you realise why Rio is considered by many as the most beautiful city in the world.

Day 3 Rio de Janeiro

This afternoon you will head off to explore Sugar Loaf Mountain. This granite rock is an iconic Rio landmark and from the top you’ll once again have the most wonderful views of the whole city, its beaches and a breathtaking view of Guanabara Bay. It’s a great place to watch the sun set over the city.

Days 4 – 6 Ilha Grande

This morning a private driver will collect you and you will be transferred along the coast to the town of Angra dos Reis from where you will board a ferry to Ilha Grande. On arrival at the island you will be transferred to your hotel for the next few nights. Over the next few days you will be able to relax on the beaches of Ilha Grande and also enjoy a boat trip around to the stunning Lopes Mendes beach, one of the finest in Brazil.

Days 7 – 9 Picinguaba

This morning you will take a boat back to the mainland where you will be met by a private driver an continue south along the coast and past Paraty to the small fishing village of Picinguaba. Set against the backdrop of the Atlantic rainforest Picinguaba contains some stunning beaches and is a wonderful place to spend a few days. Picinguaba is home to a beautiful pousada which bears the name of the village and is rightly considers as one of the finest small properties to stay at in Brazil.

Pousada Picinguaba lies 30 minutes south of the colonial town of Paraty in a relatively isolated location but it is that location that makes this hotel so very special. Days 10 – 12 Countryside Fazenda

A private driver will collect you today and transfer you further south towards Sao Paulo and into the rolling hills close to the town of São Luiz do Paraitinga. Here lies a beautiful fazenda set in stunning countryside which is set up to cater to all tastes, whether you want to relax and enjoy the peace and tranquillity or you are looking for something more adventurous. The numerous activities in the area such as trekking, horse riding, rafting and bird watching mean you will never be short of things to do. What better way to relax than with a caipirinha in hand, watching the sun set over the rolling hills?

The Fazenda Catuçaba is very much focussed on simple elegance and total peace and harmony and as such there are no TVs or internet access and there is no mobile signal. There are many works of art, produced by the various artists in residence who regularly come to stay at the fazenda for peace and inspiration. The 10 ensuite classic rooms are equipped with king size beds, Egyptian cotton bed linen and unique fireplaces and black stone baths. Their are also private villas ranging from the ‘master’, through rustic to ‘designer’. Many are original buildings from the 1800s, some facing the lake for swimming, or with waterfalls nearby.

Day 13

Following a private transfer to Sao Paulo international airport, today you will wave goodbye to Brazil and board a flight back to the UK after what will have been an unforgettable Brazil holiday.
