Rio’s premier beach resort, the St. Tropez of South America

Armação dos Búzios is more commonly known as Buzios, a beautiful beach town only a couple of hours north of Rio de Janeiro. It was made famous in the 1960’s by Brigitte Bardot who fell in love with the town and it’s easy to see why.

Sitting at the end of a beach strewn peninsula which juts out into the Atlantic Ocean the town of Buzios which was once a small fishing port is now Rio’s premier beach resort and considered to be the St. Tropez of South America.

There are a huge number of beaches close to the town centre such as the picture perfect horseshoe shaped Ferradura Beach which is wonderful for snorkelling or Geribá Beach which is the place to head for surfing. Ossos beach is in the centre of town and is the place to be seen amongst the young, rich and famous where you can often see Brazilian and international celebrities.

The town has some wonderful accommodation options, fine dining and numerous boutique shops plus there is a vast amount of activities on offer such a windsurfing, surfing, diving, sailing and other water sports.

It’s a perfect addition to a visit to Rio de Janeiro or a Brazil holiday destination in its own right.
