Starting in the most incredible city in the world, Rio de Janeiro, you will visit the most impressive waterfalls on the planet at Iguassu Falls and see a stunning array of wildlife in the Pantanal. You will fly to the heart of the Amazon before finishing your Brazilian holiday in the most interesting city in the country, Salvador. It’s a perfect Brazil holiday for anyone who wishes to see the most the country has to offer.

Day 1 – Rio de Janeiro

Fly to Rio de Janeiro where upon arrival you will be met at the airport and taken to your hotel. Flights to Rio from Europe generally arrive either in the early morning or late in the evening. The remainder of the day will be free for you to relax.

Day 2 Rio de Janeiro

After breakfast you will be met by your private English speaking guide and depart for Corcovado to see the most famous of all images of Rio, the statue of Christ the Redeemer. The views from the top are breathtaking and make you realise why Rio is considered by many as the most beautiful city in the world. After lunch you will head off to explore Sugar Loaf Mountain. This granite rock is an iconic Rio landmark and from the top you’ll once again have the most wonderful views of the whole city, its beaches and a breathtaking view of Guanabara Bay. It’s a great place to watch the sun set over the city, sipping a caipirinha. The evening will then be free for you to relax.

Day 3 Rio de Janeiro

Today will be at your leisure. Relax on one of the city’s many beaches, explore the historic centre, meander round the cobbled streets of Santa Teresa or amble around the Botanical gardens. The city has ample to keep you entertained for many a day and there is plenty we can arrange to keep you entertained from jeep tours to favela trips.

Day 4 Iguassu Falls

After breakfast a private transfer will take you to the airport for a flight to the town of Foz do Iguaçu, the gateway to the most impressive waterfalls in the world. You will be met upon arrival and transferred to your hotel for the next two nights. After lunch you will be met by your private guide and head to the Brazilian side of Iguassu Falls. Within the park on the Brazilian side is approximately a mile of boardwalks which snake through the trees and allow you to get close up to the full force of the waterfalls and also see an abundance of wildlife such as coatis or toucans. The tour ends on the upper part of the falls which are reached by a panoramic elevator before you return to your hotel.

Day 5 Iguassu Falls

After breakfast you will again be met by your guide for a private tour of the falls from the Argentinean side which offers a completely different view of Iguassu falls. Once in the national park there are two ecological trains which are perfect to take you around the parks attractions taking you eventually to the Devils Throat Station for the best view of Iguassu falls. If you really want to get close to the falls then board the La Gran Aventura boat and get to the base of the falls and feel their incredible force.

Day 6 The Pantanal

An early morning flight takes you to Campo Grande, the gateway to the southern Pantanal. On arrival you will be collected by a private transfer and taken to your hotel which will be roughly a 2 hour drive into the heart of the Pantanal. Alternatively it is possible to fly into the Pantanal by private plane.

Caiman Ecological Refuge is located on a 53 thousand hectare ranch is a wonderful destination. The property has two lodges, the Baiazinha Lodge and the Cordilheira Lodge which are spread 22kms apart. Days 7 – 8 The Pantanal

The next couple of days will be a mix of relaxation and activities. You will enjoy canoe tours, horse riding, nocturnal spotlighting, photographic safaris and caiman spotting. Activities will begin early in the morning to make the most of the best part of the day and before the temperature warms up too much so that you can enjoy two daylight tours each day plus an evening activity.

Day 9 Manaus

Following a private transfer back to Campo Grande airport, today you will fly to the heart of the Amazon, to the city of Manaus. On arrival you will be collected by an English speaking driver and taken to your hotel of choice for the night before your Amazon exploration begins tomorrow.

Day 10 Amazon Exploration

Today will be the start of your Amazon journey and you will board your boat after lunch and depart upstream on the Rio Negro and begin to get a good start on understanding Amazon preservation and ecology. After dinner you will explore little creeks in the boat’s canoes and listen to the sounds of nocturnal animals with the possibility of observing birds, frogs, snakes and caimans.

An Amazon premier clipper cruise offers 16 spacious cabins all located on the outside of the boat for Amazon viewing, complete with private bathroom facilities, hot shower and a safety box. Day 11 Amazon Exploration

Early in the morning we explore the surroundings along the water’s edge in our canoes where you can see parrots and toucans. After breakfast you will head out on a jungle walk to discover what the jungle has to offer. Returning around midday you may want to go for a swim before lunch. In the afternoon you will navigate through Anavilhanas National Park, one of the world`s largest fresh water archipelagos, a labyrinth of waterways and in the late afternoon you will embark in the canoes and learn more about this wonderful nature park.

Day 12 Amazon Exploration

Early this morning you will spend a little time fishing for piranhas and other fish and then after breakfast you will visit a local community where you are likely to find many of the typical Amazonian fruits like Cupuaçu and Tapereba, palm trees like Açaí, Tucumã and Pupunha. You will learn about the preparation of manioc flour and the health and education of local children. After lunch the boat will land on one of the white sandy beaches to swim in the dark water with the pink river dolphins. In the late afternoon you will board canoes once again and scout for wildlife before dinner is served and night falls.

Day 13 Amazon Exploration and Salvador

Early this morning you will explore the Lago Januari Ecological Park. This area is usually a very good place to observe wildlife and chances to see the “Victoria Regia” the giant water lilies. While you have breakfast the boat navigates to the “Meeting of the Waters”, the confluence of the world`s two largest rivers, the Amazon and the Negro. After viewing this incredible sight you will return to Manaus and be transferred to the airport for a flight to Salvador.

Upon arrival in Salvador you will be transferred to the hotel of your choice and the remainder of the evening will be free for you.

Day 14 Salvador

Today you will be met by a private speaking English guide and for a full day tour of Salvador. You will head to the Pelourinho, an important historical area and a symbol of the black movement in Bahia. The Pelourinho is home to important churches, museums, Brazilian artists’ studios, galleries, shops and restaurants. Your guide will explain to you the significance of the area as you walk around the city with time to visit all the main sights of interest before a stop for lunch. You will head down the Elevador Lacerda, dating back to 1873 which connects the upper town to downtown and is an important way of transportation for tourists and residents. From the top there is a great view of All Saints Bay. You will head to the Mercado Modelo, the most important regional market of the area and continue the tour with a visit to São Joaquim Fair, supply centre of the city with many typical foods, African religious items and crafts from Bahia. Before returning to the hotel you will stop off at the famous Senhor do Bonfim Church, hugely important within Brazilian religion where the crossover between Candomblé and Catholicism can be viewed. The evening will then be free for you to relax.

Day 15 Salvador

Today is free for you to relax by the pool or explore more of Salvador. We can offer a number of other tours of Salvador, out to the beaches, cooking classes or even journeys further a field to places like Praia do Forte. Talk to us about other options.

Day 16

Following a private transfer to the airport, today you will wave goodbye to Brazil and board a flight back to the UK after what will have been an unforgettable Brazil holiday.
